Mascota
The name Mascota comes from the Teco Amaxacotlán Mazacotla, which means: place of deers and snakes. The picturesque traditional town of Mascota is hidden away in the Sierra Madre Mountains less than two hours by car from Vallarta. The dry mountain air and abundance of activities such as hiking, mountain biking and fishing, make this an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. The town itself is filled with many museums, historical attractions, traditional shops, restaurants and hotels.
Mascota real estate options are not what you'd call "tourism" real estate. This is an old Mexican town where the homes for sale you'll find is in most cases very old, at least in the center of town. Outside there are ranch-style real estate opportunities, with large parcels of land available.
