La Vida is a 23-home development breaking ground this January in Bucerias. Situated on a hectare of land, it’s also on the longest and quite exceptional beach stretching from Bucerias to Nuevo Vallarta, perfect for early morning walks. The property was once owned by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, who would escape to it when hounded by the media back in the “60s. Later, the land was used as a trailer park, which it remained until this year.
The development team is headed up by Mary Seggerman, with backing by InvestLink and structural management by the real estate service company, Staubach.
There will be five one-story beachfront homes, six two-story homes with ocean views behind those, and 12 homes and villas at the rear of the property built to also offer ocean views. They will range in size from 3,000- to 3,500-square-feet of living area, with three to five bedrooms (plus a media room), and will be priced from $600,000 to $1,700,000 USD.
The architectural design will be by one of Mexico’s leading architects, Fernando de Haro, who has allowed for every home to have an ocean view while still retaining privacy for the owner. In this development he introduces aspects of the distinctive Careyes architectural style (he has built numerous homes there) to Bucerias, blending it with many Mexican design elements to create something truly unique for Puerto Vallarta.
Rather than going the common marble-floors-and-granite-countertops route, Mary and her group offer a more Mexican touch and flair with hand-fired terracotta floor tiles, polished-concrete counters with hand-hammered copper sinks, and parota wood window and door frames. Should you prefer a turn-key home investment, interior decoration packages are available.
The oceanfront homes have their own swimming pools, the others featuring very large plunge pools off the living room. Maid service will be included in the maintenance fees for all units and a rental program will be offered, common areas to include a beach club and a mini spa/fitness center.
